About us
Margate Sup and Surf is an accredited British Stand Up Paddle Association, Sup School. Working in partnership with Margate Yacht Club, we offer lessons, group sessions, club paddles and guided rentals in Margate. The flexibility of also being mobile gives us the advantage of being able to offer the best location for our clients needs and the flexibility to move location to suit the prevailing weather conditions and tides.
We only run lessons when the weather is suitable and safe.

Our Story
Owner and BSUPA qualified instructor, Lawrence has been teaching water sports for over 20 years. Growing up on an activity centre in the uk he has gone from guiding canoe and kayak river descents in the Ardeche France to coaching Surfing, Windsurfing and Kitesurfing over a 9 year period in Fuerteventura on the Canary Islands. Water sports are in our DNA with 3 generations of our family getting out on the water together when we get the chance. Now we are bringing all this experience and love of paddleboarding together to offer fun and informative Sup lessons to Margate and surrounding areas.

Having sold m SUP a few years ago after a disastrous lesson with a terrible teacher, I was rather dubious when my husband said that he had booked a lesson for us both with Lawrence. What a contrast! Lawrence is a great teacher. When I felt I would never master standing up on the paddle board he was extremely patient and gently took me out of my comfort zone to master the technique. Within half an hour I was standing up and paddling around independently. We both had a great time and the lesson flew by. We are already planning our next trip to the beach with own board and I am very pleased to have overcome a fear and gained my confidence. With most things in life, if you have a good teacher you can achieve anything. Thanks Lawrence.
